Susan’s son, Chad, ran ahead to Heaven on May 12, 2011, at the age of 24. After returning home as an Army Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Chad struggled with PTSD and a battle with drug addiction, which ultimately led to his untimely death.

Susan is retired and finds joy in serving others through her church and various ministries. She also loves spending time with her son, Jason, and three beautiful grandchildren, Makayla, Jace, and Brooklyn. Susan’s husband, Tommy, went to Heaven in February of 2026.

Susan facilitates the While We’re Waiting Support Group in Ball, Louisiana, established in March of 2023. Even with her own burden of grief and loss, Susan is choosing to be a beacon of hope and light to those who are still wandering in darkness. John 1:5.
