Attendance Eligibility Policy

While We're Waiting exists to provide Christ-centered hope and encouragement to parents who have experienced the death of a child. To fulfill this mission, attendance at our weekend retreats is limited to those who have experienced child loss in one of the following roles:

Eligible Attendees

Eligible attendees include:

  • Biological parents, whether single or married.
  • The spouse of a biological parent.
  • Adoptive parents, whether single or married.
  • The spouse of an adoptive parent.
  • Foster parents, whether single or married.
  • The spouse of a foster parent.

Individuals who are not themselves a biological, adoptive, or foster parent of the deceased child, or who are not married to someone in one of those categories, are not eligible to attend While We're Waiting Weekend retreats.

Because our retreats are intentionally designed to minister to parents and their spouses, we are unable to make exceptions to this policy. We recognize that many others—including grandparents, siblings, fiancés, significant others, and close friends—also experience profound grief following the death of a child. While we deeply care for each of them, our weekend retreats are specifically focused on the unique needs and experiences of bereaved parents and their spouses.
