We will spend our time together sharing the stories of our precious children and talking about issues we face as bereaved parents. We have found no greater comfort than the fellowship of other Christian parents who truly understand the experience of losing a child. Our retreats offer that opportunity, and also provide a safe place to work through some of the questions and struggles we experience as grieving moms and dads, all the while focusing on the hope we have of seeing our children again one day. It is a blessing to spend time with others who truly understand the loss of a child and who have dealt with the same difficult and painful issues, but who also share the hope we have in Jesus.
Come, knowing you will be surrounded by people who care, who understand, and who will pray for you. This will be a safe place, a place where we can honestly discuss our struggles, knowing we will not be judged, because every one of us has been there at one time or another. We will also share our victories, and rejoice with each other as we move along the road toward healing.
This one-day gathering will be led by Scott and Karen Harmening, whose daughter Sarah died in a bus accident on her way to a mission trip in Botswana in 2017. They are well-acquainted with grief, yet love the Lord and are seeking to live well while they're waiting to be reunited with their daughter. They are kind and compassionate and you will be blessed by spending this special weekend with them. This event will be held on 7 December 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Gaborone. It will begin at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. Breakfast, lunch, and tea will be provided. There is NO COST to attend this event. Scott and Karen’s daughter, Sarah, went to heaven on June 8, 2017, at the age of 17. She was killed in a bus crash while on her way to Botswana for a mission trip. Scott is an engineer and Karen, a former stay-at-home mom, spends much of her time serving through their local church. In their free time Scott and Karen enjoy spending time with their remaining daughters and sons-in-law, and their growing families. Karen blogs about their journey at www.ListeningtoHim.com.
Our retreats are 100% free, though we do accept a voluntary donation at the close of the retreat.
While We're Waiting is a 501(c)3 non-profit that operates entirely off of generous donations.
