Lei Lei's Legacy

Lei Lei's 5K and Memory Mile is an annual event that raises funds for the While We're Waiting ministry. It was established in memory of 5-year-old Leightyn Nan Holmes, the daughter of Landen and Missy Holmes. Leightyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor on August 6, 2010, and less than 24 hours later, she went to sing and dance with Jesus. Leightyn's Lifesong has had a profound effect on people's lives since her passing, and this event is a big part of her continuing legacy.

REGITRATION AND SPONSORSHIP ARE NOW CLOSED FOR 2026. Sponsorship of the Memory Mile is $150. Your sponsorship includes:

  • A sign with the child's name and picture, which will be placed along the Memory Mile route. The sponsor can also choose to add a special quote, verse, or saying to the sign. You may take the sign home with you after the race; or if you live too far away to attend in person, we will mail it to you.
  • The sponsored child's name will be included on the back of the race t-shirt. (Must sponsor by 4/14/26 to get the child's name on the race shirt.)
  • One free race shirt is included with your sponsorship. Additional shirts can be purchased by Memory Mile sponsors for just $20 each. (Must sponsor by 4/14/26 to be guaranteed a shirt.)
  • One free 5K/Memory Mile entry is included with your sponsorship. Additional walkers or runners must register by clicking the "Race Registration" tab on this page.

The Memory Mile gives bereaved parents (or grandparents, family members, or friends) the opportunity to sponsor a section of Lei Lei's 5K in memory of a much-loved child in Heaven.
